On February 18 in “Raubichi” within the framework of the Cup of the strongest athletes in biathlon individual races were held.
The race was held in a truncated format: instead of the traditional 15 km, the girls ran 12.5 km, and for each miss in shooting the participants received 45 seconds instead of one minute. The gold medal was won by Russian Irina Kazakevich, who made only one miss and was one of the fastest on the track. Natalia Shevchenko, the champion of the sprint and pasciut, added a silver medal to the medal bank, while Ekaterina Moshkova rounded off the top three.
Dinara Smolskaya was the best Belarusian. The silver medalist of the previous two races in “Raubichi” made three inaccurate shots and took the fifth place. Anna Sola was 0.4 seconds behind Dinara: after the third firing range Anna had the 3rd schedule with two shooting errors, but at the final rack the Belarusian missed twice more and fell out of the top three.
In the men's 15km race, the best of the Belarusians was Dmitry Lazovsky: our athlete made only one mistake at four firing lines, and at the finish his result was only 0.3 seconds worse than the time of bronze medalist Alexander Povarnitsyn. The winner was Saeed Khalili, with Anton Babikov (both from Russia) in second place.
The next type of the program at the Strongman Cup will be the single mixed relay, which will be held on Thursday evening (20:00).
